About AFT

As an organisation, AFT promotes understanding of the relationship between individual well-being and family functioning and family dynamics. We aim to promote and support strength and resilience in families and their communities of support.

Only some AFT members work in designated family therapy or psychotherapy posts, but one of AFT's aims is to promote the profession and to establish standards for training and registration through the UK Council for Psychotherapy.

Dorothy Ramsay is the current Chair of the Association and Board of Directors and Trustees who manage the business of the Association, assisted by the work of relevant committees. AFT has a UK wide network of local branches which provide support, workshops and courses open to members and non-members.
