We meet in a number of venues around Berkshire, and every 3 months we have an evening presentation.
We started 2 years ago and have run two Conferences, our first with Prof. Arlene Vetere and the second this Oct with Jim Wilson. Audience feedback was good, one person remark “how nice it is to see well known speakers but also interesting having workshops with home grown talent…”
We are small and friendly and like to include all ideas and invite interested people to do evening presentations.
BAFT group also like to go out to dinner together as well. It is a great opportunity to make friends and network.

HAFT primarily provides low cost high value day workshops every 4 months as one of the ways to promote the aims of AFT. The Committee actively seek formal feedback from audience concerning current and ideas for future workshops. The workshops form the basis of a thriving and ever developing network of people interested in or undertaking systemic work, teaching and research at very different levels of knowledge and experience (ie from those new to systems ideas and practice to those who may be qualified. This is one of its strengths.

The Kent Branch of AFT runs two annual systemic Workshops in Canterbury in May and November for professionals interested in family and systemic practice across the multi-agency networks operating across South East London, Kent and the South East. It aims to offer good quality training with interesting speakers at a reasonable cost to all those wishing to sustain and develop their interest and expertise in systemic ideas and practice in different professional contexts. It also provides a day in which people can share information and ideas with each other on an informal basis and strengthen local networks and connections between people working in different services.
People interested in attending the Workshops are added to an email list and information sent out to them in advance of the dates. Past speakers have included Mark Rivett, Gill Gorell Barnes, Sharon Bond, Barry Mason, Alan Cooklin, John Burnham, Chip Chimera and lots of others to whet the appetite and support the development of systemic practice and innovation!
The 2012 Workshop dates are the18th May and the 16th November 2012 and speakers will be confirmed as soon as possible.

London AFT appreciates the diversity within its large geographical area (50% of inner Londoners belong to ethnic groups other than White British), its large membership and their professional networks and clients. The committee recognises that inequalities that exist within our society can be reflected in our branch and we seek to address these. A current aim is to make our branch a more democratic process whereby members can influence the Branch through questions, ideas and requests via a phone call or by joining our new email group.

We aim to be inclusive with an emphasis on the GRRAACCEEES and building systemic networks so our events are open to all who are interested and currently run at minimal cost. This is thanks to careful sourcing of venues and committee members giving their time to run events. We are currently building on our first successful writing seminar and our Systemic World Cinema events.

We are starting up a new, more widely engaged and connected organisation and lead group for FT, SP and AFT in Scotland. We want this to better represent, integrate, support, lead and further promote all the many people ;and projects in Scotland that contribute to the dynamic Family Therapy and Systemic Practice scene here.
SAFT aims to hold one significant training event each year. We also try to meet occasionally throughout the year to think about current issues in family therapy. We are a small group at present and we’d be very pleased to welcome new members.

Sussex AFT has a vigorous Committee, Chaired by Richard Best, Secretary Tanya Smart, Treasurer David Secrett, and Local Branch Member for AFT Margaret Henning.
Other Committee members play key roles planning and running workshops, one future development being the introduction of locally provided practice workshops working across different modes of therapeutic practice, and agencies.
The current Sussex AFT has been functioning since 2004 and provided workshops by Peter Stratton and David Epston in its first year and continued since then with two workshops each year. Our autumn workshop with Gail Simon proved very popular and we plan several more consultations with Gail. In March 2012 Paulo Bertrando will share with us his ideas on emotion.
The workshops have provided a surplus of funds for our needs and recently we decided to feed some money back into National AFT as an appreciation that without them we would not achieve so much.
Brighton and Hove City, West and East Sussex are embraced by the Sussex Partnership NHS Trust, and many systemic therapists work within the Trust, although a good number of systemic practitioners work privately. There is generally a vibrant, often political discussion about the place and role of different psychotherapies therapies in the region. Many Committee members are trainers and or supervisors, some teaching on systemic programmes locally, with qualifying courses in Brighton and Hove, neighbouring Guildford, as well as in London
The first Sussex AFT was established in 1974 spearheaded by Rosemary Ryle, a Tavistock trained therapist. In 1974-5 training days were run by Rosemary Whiffen, John Byng-Hall, and Arno Bentovim amongst others. Sussex AFT has been reincarnated several times since then, but always retaining its training role and focus.
We welcome anyone in the Sussex area not already part of Sussex AFT to get in touch with us.
