Are you interested in Joining the AFT Registration Committee.
New committee members and panellists are now required.
Membership of the Committee is open to AFT members who have recognised experience as UKCP registered practitioners, and experience as teachers and/or supervisors. A small honorarium is paid for reviewing applications. For further details please email: s.kennedy@aft.org.uk or contact Judith Lask, Chair of the Registration committee on Judith.lask@virgin.net
The Registration Committee has the responsibility for managing the applications for the UKCP register of psychotherapists and for the AFT register of supervisors. This includes development of policies relating to registration, ensuring that all entrants to the register meet requirements and that those registered fulfil requirements for CPD and maintain safe levels of practice. We aim to do this in as “user friendly” fashion as possible.
The Registration committee meets to approve practitioners for UKCP Registration 4 x per year by telephone conference and face to face. There are 2 routes to registration
Following a successful application for registration, individuals will have to complete a full re-registration every 3 years. This will include eevidence to show that CPD requirements have been met.
Over the past two years, the Registration committee have introduced 2 new requirements for registration. The first is the need for a CRB disclosure. Those registrants who are unable to obtain a disclosure through their workplace should contact Sue Kennedy.
We are also requiring professional indemnity insurance for everyone, unless they sign a declaration to say they will not undertake any consultations outside their paid work. A letter from the Employer is also required to say that you have cover for work as a Family and Systemic Psychotherapist. Even those registrants who are employed in public services are not covered for personal complaints made directly to UKCP or to AFT. Insurance is both a cover for clients and for the professional. We realise that this is yet another expense although it can be claimed against tax
