UKCP re-registration

UKCP will contact registrants directly on an annual basis to collect the UKCP subscription. If your certificate has expired, please contact UKCP on membership@ukcp.org.uk

Continuing Professional Development

It is important that the Registration Committee are confident that Registered Members are meeting the requirements of AFT's Continuing Professional Development Policy in order to continue to recommend members for UKCP registration. All registrants must complete a CPD review at least once every 5 years. AFT are moving towards a 5 year cycle of checking CPD, so some registrants who may have expected to complete a CPD review this year may not be asked until next year. If you have completed a CPD review for us or another member organisation within the last 5 years, you only need to provide evidence of training etc since your last review.

There is no fee for completing the CPD review, this is included within your AFT registered membership fee.

Notes

CRB Checks: For those who are unable to obtain a CRB check through their employer and have not had a CRB check in the past 3 years, we require you to make arrangements with a company that will do this on behalf of self-employed people. A number are available that can be searched for on the internet. If you require more assistance please contact the AFT office.

Insurance: please click here for link to companies that offer professional indemnity insurance. Any registrant undertaking private practice or self employed teaching or consultation work must have their own personal professional indemnity insurance. It is recommended a minimum of £1 million. It is also recommended that those in employed work consider their own indemnity insurance, as employer's insurance is unlikely to cover complaints made to a professional body.

The registration committee have agreed that anyone who has worked clinically and supervised concurrently for 10 years can apply to the registration committee to do supervision only and retain UKCP membership. We have had a handful of applications from members who have retired from  clinical practice. We have also agreed in the committee that for those who only do a small amount of supervision ( less than a day a week) then they only need to have consultation to that work 3 times a year( minimum) and that consultation could be peer supervision.
