Prudence Skynner Family Therapy Clinic
The Family Therapy service based at the Prudence Skynner Clinic has been working with families and couples and offering training since 1989. The training offers a broad range of concepts and skills in working with individuals, couples and families, valuing the differences that diversity brings. The training courses are designed for professionals in both Adult & Child Health Services and Social Services. Completion of 4 years training offers registration with UKCP as a Systemic Psychotherapist
Years 1 & 2 may be undertaken as stand alone courses
Year 1: Working with Families: Foundations of Systemic Practice
Spring 2009
This course is accredited by the Association of Family Therapy (AFT)
Duration: 66 hours – 20 three-hour evening sessions (plus independent study).
Entry Requirement: A professional qualification or equivalent.
Closing date for application November 2008 – max 16 students
Year 2: Contextualising Change: Intermediate Course in Family & Systemic Psychotherapy
Autumn 2008 – Spring 2009
This course is accredited by the Association of Family Therapy (AFT)
Duration: 60 hours over 10 days (plus systemic practice and independent study).
Entry Requirement: Successful completion of year 1.
Closing date for application July 2008 - max 16 students.
Year 3 & 4: Masters in Family & Systemic Psychotherapy
The Prudence Skynner Family Therapy Clinic in collaboration with the Institute of Family Therapy
Duration: Two year part-time: 3 terms of half a day spent in live supervised clinical groups held at Prudence Skynner clinic plus input at the Institute of Family Therapy
Entry Requirement: Minimum of 2 years post qualifying experience in first profession plus successful completion of the Intermediate Course in Family Systemic Psychotherapy.
Next Intake: October 2008
Supervised Clinical Practice or Observation
There are a limited number of places available within clinical teams for trained/experienced practitioners wishing to receive live supervision. It is also possible to arrange observation of clinical practice.
