The Association for Family Therapy and Systemic Practice (AFT) through the CRED Committee provides a framework for accrediting courses in Family and Systemic Psychotherapy and in Systemic practice.
Courses are required to run one cohort of trainees before applying for accreditation. If the course is accredited, trainees from the first year will be considered to have completed an accredited course. Courses are advised to use the Blue Book 3rd Edition when setting up their courses or making substantial changes. Consultation can be arranged at this stage and a fee will be charged.
Accreditation
After application, arrangements will be put in place for a formal presentation of the course to panellists - this will usually require a visit. Course accreditation is for a period of 5 years, subject to annual review.
Re-accreditation
This is usually a paper based exercise and the course can be accredited for a further 5 years, subject to annual review. At the end of this period a full accreditation visit will be required.
If 2 courses are presented together there will be a reduction of 10%. Please submit four copies of the application form (see right column to download) with the required documentation and appropriate fee.
