Step 1 of 4 - Choose Membership Type

As an AFT Member you will receive a wealth of member benefits.  All members are required to read and abide by the AFT Code of Ethics and Practice.

The AFT membership year runs from 1 January to 31 December 


Existing Members:

Wiley will contact members, by email, to renew AFT membership for 2020 in the Autumn. The renewal email includes a ' renewal link,' which when clicked, will direct members to a renewal page. If you have any difficulties with payment please contact Wiley - General membership services team on 01865 778171. If you need to discuss your membership category please contact the AFT office.


How to Join AFT

Individuals can join AFT directly online as:

Systemic practitioner membership, SPM: Please note this is not a registration. Currently this category of membership is being reviewed. It is for those who completed an AFT accredited course either at CYP IAPT level or to intermediate level and meet the requirements of application process. Following the decision made by the board on the 7th of October 2019, we will accept the appropriate applications for SPM with the proviso it will only be for 12 months, and will be part of the larger membership review. If you wish to apply please contact the AFT office.  You will need to be or join as a 'member' or 'student member' in the first instance. See below to join.

Those who have trained at intermediate level are very welcome to join AFT, as a 'member,' or, if completing qualifying level training as a 'student member.' 


Registered Membership: For members who are Fully Qualified UKCP Registered Family and Systemic Psychotherapists & whom AFT supportMembers of AFT can apply via AFT for UKCP registration as a Family and Systemic Psychotherapist. Once approved, 'members' are transferred to being 'Registered Members' and are required to maintain the requirements for registration. Members may apply for registration if they have completed the AFT accredited qualifying level training or equivalent overseas.
